Kwame Akwaboah is the family of the month. Kwame is a farmer and with the help of MORE Foundation Group, his family is practicing alley cropping. Nitrogen fixing trees are planted in rows alongside with crops and other trees like cocoa, mahogany and cedrella odorata. Periodically, Mr. Akwaboah prunes nitrogen fixing trees and let the branches falls on the ground. The leaves biodegrade into organic fertilizer, improving the yields of his crops (plantain, maize, cocoyam) and trees. The beans from nitrogen fixing trees (cajanus cajan) are also good sources of protein to Mr. Kwame Akwaboah family.
Thanks to all generous Americans!
